He Lives

The question of “How do you know that Jesus lives“  keeps coming to mind. Over and over different songs pour into my heart; songs that I have sung since I was a little girl. With amazing words, these songs assure us of our Savior living in us and others.

“Love Lifted Me“

I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But, the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.   (chorus)

All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him, I’ll cling,
In His blessed presence live, ever His praises sing,
Love so mighty and so true, merits my soul’s best songs,
Faithful loving service, too, to Him belongs.   (chorus)

Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves,
He will lift you by His love, out of the angry waves,
He’s the Master of the sea, billows His will obey,
He, your Savior wants to be, be saved today.   (chorus)

(Chorus)    Love lifted me!  Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me.
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me.

“He Lives“
I serve a risen Savior, He’s in the world today,
I know that He is living, whatever men may say,
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him, He’s always near.   (chorus)

In all the world around me, I see His loving care,
And tho’ my heart grows weary, I never will despair,
I know that He is leading thro all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.   (chorus)

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing,
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King!
The hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find,
None other is so loving, so good and kind.   (chorus)

( Chorus )   He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives; He lives within my heart.

“In the Garden“ was one of my all time favorites from my childhood. It was also the first song that my sister Peggy and I sang together as a duet. She was blessed with a beautiful alto voice, and I sang the soprano part. I remember my Aunt Sis sitting out in the congregation just a crying. She was our Daddy’s oldest sister. Aunt Sis gave me my first Bible, prayed for me, encouraged me, and looked out for me. She also taught me in Sunday School.

“In the Garden“

I come to the garden alone,  While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,  The Son of God discloses. (chorus)

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,  Is so sweet the birds hush their singing
And the melody that He gave to me,  Within my heart is ringing.  (chorus)

I’d stay in the garden with Him, Tho’ the night around be falling,
But, He bids me go, thro the voice of woe, His voice to me is calling.  (chorus)

( Chorus ) And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me, I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,  None other has ever known.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the Name of the Son of God; and that you may know that you have eternal life and that you may believe on the Name of the Son of God.” (1 John 5:11-13)
