From spring through the summer, Daddy and my brothers were busy plowing and planting different crops in the fields, especially cotton. It was the main crop that Daddy depended on to raise and sell to provide for our needs through the winter months. The cotton seed was sowed in a solid row; as the cotton grew to around four to five inches, it was time for the whole family to come out and begin to chop the cotton and remove any weeds growing in the row. Then, we would wait for it to grow, bloom, and develop cotton bolls.
When “harvest time” came on our farm, the fields would be solid white for as far as you could see. Each of us would prepare to help work and bring in the harvest of cotton.
For the last several weeks, I keep hearing the Lord say this to us, His children:
…...I (the Lord, your God) say unto you,
“Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields: for they are white already to harvest.” (John 4:35b)
Song: “My House is Full”
There is peace and contentment in the Father’s House today,
Lots of food on the table and no one is turned away.
There is singing and laughter as each hour passes by,
But, a hush calms the singing, as the Father sadly cries, (chorus)
Push away from the table, look out thru the window pane,
Just beyond this house of plenty, there’s a field of golden grain.
And, it’s ripe unto harvest, but the reapers where are they?
In the house, oh can’t the children, hear the Father sadly say (chorus)
“My house is full, but My fields are empty,
Who will go and work for Me, today?
Seems like, my children all want to stay around My table,
But, no one wants to work in My fields,
No one wants to work in My fields.”
When My Daddy told us that it was time to start picking the cotton, you gave no excuses. Each of us joined the family and committed to pick until there was not one boll of cotton left in the fields. Not any cotton was allowed to stay and lay as waste in those fields, but, all was rescued by Daddy’s “cotton pickers.”
There are souls to rescue, there are souls to save, and our Heavenly Daddy needs some “soul pickers” to come join His labor force.
In Ps. 2:8 the verse says “Ask of Me, and I shall give you the (lost souls) of heathen for thy inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.”
There is nothing more beautiful than when a lost soul finds Jesus as his Savior and Lord. The transformation is so wonderful to watch as Jesus blooms the pure whiteness of Himself in their hearts and lives.
Won’t you come join the Harvest Time and become one of Daddy’s “Soul Pickers” ???
Love forever,
Tricia Cook,
