Yellowed and Stained

Vintage linens show signs of age when they have been stored and unused. They become stained and yellow. Recently, I cleaned out a cabinet that had some vintage pillowcases and napkins. During the years of storage, they became very stained and yellow.

Wash Away the Stains

After researching and asking friends how to clean the linens, I purchased a product to attempt to clean them. It took hours and hours of soaking to wash away the stains. The process wasn’t complete until I hung them in the sunlight. Now, they are white and stain free.

“For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, Yet your iniquity is marked before Me,” says the Lord GOD.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭2:22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬https://www.bible.com/114/jer.2.22.nkjv

 The Stain of Our Sin

It doesn’t matter how often we take a bath or how much soap we use, the stain of our sin cannot be washed away. Carrying guilt and shame is not an answer to cleansing either. There is nothing we can physically do to cleanse ourselves of our sin.

“Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/psa.51.2.nkjv

Cleanse Me

When David was confronted with his sin, he knew the only One who could cleanse Him. David’s desire was for a thorough purging of his sin. He desired to be rid of the whole amount of his sin. Sin is such a heavy weight on our conscience until we are cleansed. David pleaded to God for a cleansing down to the guilt he carried within.

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/eph.1.7.nkjv

The Redeemer

Jesus Christ is The Redeemer. Through the shedding of His blood, He set us free from the penalty of sin. He is also The Forgiver of our sin. When we are cleansed by Jesus Christ, our sins are as far as the East is from the West and He remembers them no more.

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” ‭‭I John‬ ‭1:7, 9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/1jn.1.7,9.nkjv

Just Confess

We can be thankful that Jesus’ blood that He shed for you and me cleanses us of our stains or sin. Not just some, but all sin. Added to that is the fact that we do not have to spend hours and hours to be cleansed.

Just confess. Admit to God your sin and He will wash away your stains. God is so good. He loves you so much. He sees you white and pure because of His Son Jesus Christ.

Bask in the Son light and be pure.
