I Won’t Let Go, by Rascal Flatts

Hear Jesus Sing This Song Over Your Heart

The Bridegroom has returned for His Bride. She was dressed and ready. A new beginning has begun. She is lifted up and carried to the Father’s house and now the wedding feast begins its seven-day celebration. All the preparations are completed and rejoicing is the tone! Those who were not ready are not there and yet, there is no sadness because the ONLY thing that matters is that the Bridegroom kept His promise and returned for the Bride.

Sheva B’rachot: From the Garden to the World to Come

The blessings of the wedding feast. The chuppah represents a home and it is believed that the Divine hovers above it to bless it. It is a temporary structure made by hand and given as a gift to the couple to use as a wall tapestry, bed covering, or other decoration of the home. It is symbolic of the Tabernacle where God Himself dwelt among His people. This structure was usually erected in the courtyard of the father’s house and the blessings are given prior to the seclusion of the couple. It is here the bridegroom removes the veil of the bride to reveal her beauty. This reminds those in attendance of the story of Jacob and Leah and Rachel. (Genesis 29)

Blessings to the Lord God of Heaven

The order of these blessings is important. Read them aloud and feel the weight of addressing the Lord God of Heaven.

  1. Blessed are You, HaShem, our God, King of the Universe, Who has created everything for His glory. The wedding guests and the Bride and Groom are blessed for they are created in God’s image. HaShem was present at the First wedding and is now present here.
  2. Blessed are You, HaShem, our God King of the Universe, Who fashions the man. God created man.
  3. Blessed are You, HaShem, our God King of the Universe, Who fashions the man in His image, in the image of His likeness and prepared for him-from himself-a building (home) for eternity. Blessed are You, HaShem, who fashions the man. God separated Eve from Adam, so that they could become two distinct people who would unite in marriage.
  4. Bring intense joy and exultation to the barren one through the ingathering of her children amid her gladness. Blessed are You, HaShem, Who gladdens Zion through her children. How can we rejoice while our mother city, Jerusalem, is barren, with her children in exile? So we plead with God to bring her children back to her.
  5. Gladden the beloved companions as You gladdened Your creature in the Garden of Eden to the east. Blessed are You, HaShem, Who gladdens groom and bride. May God allow the young couple–who are about to become lifelong companions–to enjoy success in all their lives together, just as He gladdened Adam in the Garden of Eden.
  6. Blessed are You, HaShem, our God King of the Universe, Who created joy and gladness, groom and bride, mirth, glad song, pleasure, delight, love, brotherhood, peace, and companionship. HaShem, our God, let there soon be heard in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem the sound of joy and the sound of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the groom’s jubilance from their canopies and of youths from their song-filled feasts. Blessed are You, Who gladdens the groom with the bride. Finally we thank God for gladdening this particular couple in their shared joy, and we pray that He will return pure joy to the streets of Jerusalem.
  7. Blessed are You, HaShem, our God King of the Universe, Who creates the fruit of the vine. The Sheva B’rachot closes with the blessing over the wine, the symbol of joy combined with devotion to God. The final cup is shared and this is the cup Jesus referred to at the “Last Supper,” with His disciples when He said, “I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine from now until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” Matthew 26:29 This is the fourth cup! The wedding cup or Kiddush cup, the cup of consummation. Now the Bridegroom and the Bride go into seclusion. The “best man” will wait outside the door. He will make the announcement all are waiting to hear………

A Cup of Christmas: Capturing the Blessings of God

What are the four cups?

The order shows God’s order in creation and His Sovereign control over both Heaven and earth in time and space and the fulfillment of His eternal plan. He is a God of order.

Yes, this is more geeky information but knowing it helps Scripture come to life and you can see the red thread of redemption which is for both Jew and Gentile that runs throughout Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. You were ALWAYS on His mind, in His heart, and your name is carved in the palm of His mighty, protective hand. Will you take His hand for eternity?
