GOD’S CARES ABOUT TODAY’S NEEDS
Oh! I can do this!
Have you ever caught yourself thinking you knew how to do something? If we’re not careful this can be a trap! God reminds us ,“The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations” (Psalm 33:11). Indeed, we do learn many things in this life. God makes us responsible for developing the abilities He gave us. Creator God is relevant in today’s life.
God can do it BETTER!
Yet the better part of wisdom puts the brakes on our pride to encourage humility to flourish. A submissive spirit yielded to God gives Him a chance to lead and demonstrate what He can do. Since God sees the whole picture, why not let Him instruct us in His best way? We will discover His path took us down an avenue we had not considered. His plan for our life simultaneously meets other people’s needs while He fulfills ours.
God makes SENSE out of NONSENSE
Our challenge? Entrusting ourselves to God’s unique plan, worshiping Him while we wait for Him to work it out. Clouds will inevitably hang overhead, obstructing our view of God’s sunny, visible plan of action. Meanwhile we can remind ourselves God makes sense out of nonsense. What a blessing to have access to God’s Word, which helps us understand His ways!
God’s plan of action applied to our lives brings God’s glory into every part. When we let God take charge, He shines. This leads others to wonder in amazement at such a great idea. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
The little treasure book of verses
For example, my mother made a little book for me when I was a tiny tot. As I learned a Bible verse we added it to my little book. I cherished my little book! One day it disappeared. I forgot about the little treasure book of verses, but I do remember Matthew 5:16 as one of my precious promises. Years later she told me the neighbor girl took it. Mom never mentioned it to the girl’s mother. She thought my little book would do her more good and glorify God more if she kept it. The verses of Scripture applied to her as much as to me. In heaven, I will know better the depth of the plant or tree sprouted from those seeds. God has a better idea!
God remains righteous, faithful, trustworthy, worthy of honor, just yet merciful, and loving throughout eternity. And this is a partial list of His attributes! “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; ‘I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the spirit of the contrite ones’” (Isaiah 57:15).
God’s big plan applied to our life takes practical form. He watches over those who submit to His authority yet He gives us space. Each new generation has an opportunity to discover God’s relevance in all aspects of life.
To what depth does your trust in God extend?
