God Desires to Comfort Us?

When life gets hard, how does God comfort us? Have you experience the comfort of God in your trials? He is there! He wants to be your comfort. He has sent His comforter, the Holy Spirit, to live in us and enables us to walk with God

There are some reminders we can use to get through those tough struggles.

Remember to whom you belong. You are a child of the eternal God of the universe.

John 1:12 English Standard Version (ESV) “12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,”

Remember Who God is:

He is loving toward His people:

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” (1 John 3:1)

He will never leave you or forsake you.

Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

He is my shield and defender Psalms 28:7

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults and with my song I give thanks to him.”

He holds my securely.

John 10:28-30 “28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

He is faithful even when I am faithless:

2 Timothy 2:11-13 “The saying is trustworthy, for:If we have died with him, we will also live with him; 12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; 13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.”

He is worthy of our trust!

Psalm 145:13 New International Version (NIV) “13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.”

Know the enemy’s tactics

He stands before God and accuses the brethren.

“Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night has been down.”

Satan seeks to steal, kill and destroy us. John 10:10

“10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

He is the father of lies! John 8:44

“44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

He masquerades around as an angel of light.

2 Corinthians 11:14 ” And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”

So remember:

God is our comfort
He is our peace
He is our defender
He is our healer
He is my provider

Psalm 118;5-7 “ When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place. 6 The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? 7.The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.”
