Wear and Crown

Chronicle of the Kings

Dressed for the King

Every morning we get up and get dressed for the day. Some days we wear work clothes. Some days we dress for special occasions. Some days we wear our stretchy clothes to relax for the day.

Whatever we wear, we are to put on Christ who is our life. If you have been baptized into his body, then you have been given proper attire for your life here on this earthly plain. Baptism, in this verse, symbolizes you have identified with Christ in His life, His death and His resurrection.

Galatians 3:26-27 “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

When we put on our new life, we are sealed with a promise, the Holy Spirit of God comes to live in us and enables us to walk in the character of Christ. We no longer desire the things of this world.

Colossians 3:12-17

12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Someday we will be dressed in a wedding garment for the marriage supper of the Lamb. We will be given a robe and a crown. We will sit with Jesus, ruling and reigning with him in the heavenly Jerusalem.

I want to be dressed as best I can while I live here. Don’t you?

Isaiah 61:10 “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
