Well watered garden:

I have always loved to write. This my first attempt at journaling which some may call blogging. I am comfortable with journaling. I am not so sure about blogging.  I don’t mind change. I enjoy trying new challenges.  But I definitely like testing the water first.

Water and I have not always been good friends.  Water is a necessity for life. I understand that.

Water makes gardens grow bountifully.  Sometimes water helps to grow beautiful gardens, vegetables, flowers, and landscapes that are picturesque.  Sometimes it helps weeds and underbrush grow prolifically.

Water, I am told covers most of the earth we live on.  Water is one of God’s life sources for us earthlings.  He provides a system by which water reinvents itself in a cycle to replenish and refresh this wonderful planet on which we live.

In the story of the Samaritan woman, Jesus tells her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I give will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” Ahhhh, that’s what I desire.

I believe that there is something in each of us that draws us to bodies of water. I love to watch the waves of the ocean crash on the sand.  I love to sit beside the river and watch as it lazily runs along its course.  I love to sit by the lake and feel the peace of still water.

What we seldom see in these serene settings is the undercurrent that is pulling and spinning anything that is pulled into its tremendous force.   This purifying process clears and cleans whatever is drawn into its presence.  Nature is such a perfect picture of God’s love and dedication to conforming his children into the masterpiece he desires us to be.

Jesus, our living water, desires that we are refreshed, cleansed and purified.  Sometimes it is with a gentle nudge, sometimes it is with such force that it takes our breath away.

As a child, I did not learn to swim.  As an adult, I thought I should take some swimming lessons. I did this mostly because I had children whom I wanted to love and enjoy the water.  I have a dear friend who taught the swimming lessons at the local pool.  I enlisted her help.  I learned many lessons from Von and not just about swimming.  We have remained friends for a long time now.  I still don’t swim well but I can enjoy the water without fear.

Water and fear…… Fear not!  “I am with you, I will never leave you or forsake you.”

When Von suggested a blog, and then invited me to join in writing, I wasn’t sure what my part in the adventure would be.  So here I am, putting down thoughts that come from somewhere inside.

Let the adventure begin!

I have never read or participated in a blog before today. I live in a tiny town now for almost seven years. There’s only a handful of small cowboy churches and I’ve have visited them all. None of them seem to teach about Jesus. Sadly, I been hanging onto the vine simply by listening to U-Tube preachers and my own daily studies. I am retired, full time caregiver for my terminally ill older sister, who lives with my husband and I for almost three years now. I stay busy but I have a deep need and desire to be doing more for God and His Kingdom. I’m starting small today by reaching out to become part of something that teaches about Jesus.

Good stuff freda. I can certainly relate to Jesus being our living water. Today more than ever I realize how vital it is to have Christ living in me. Thank god for our daily bread. Absolutely can’t live without it

My first comment was one given before I was able to get through many of the blogs. The stories about things in your lives are what I was speaking of in my first comment. I had scanned a few at a VERY early hour in an airport in a half comatose state…so I stand corrected since I’ve now continued on. Kudos to all of you!
