Prayer for leaders

Prayer for leaders

November 9, 2022

Did you wake up discouraged on Wednesday morning?

I had to have a little talk with myself and the Lord!

I want to be thankful for all God has done for me this year!

God’s Word says we are not to be afraid.  Over and over God says,“Do not fear!”

Here are a few scriptures brought to mind:

First God Reigns

Isaiah 45: 18-19

    For thus says the LORD,
    Who created the heavens,
    Who is God,
    Who formed the earth and made it,
    Who has established it,
    Who did not create it in vain,
    Who formed it to be inhabited:
    “I am the LORD, and there is no other.
    19 I have not spoken in secret,
    In a dark place of the earth;
    I did not say to the seed of Jacob,
    ‘Seek Me in vain’;
    I, the LORD, speak righteousness,
    I declare things that are right.

Second He Equips

He will equip us for battle. Therefore, He will strengthen us in whatever battles we may face.

Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; there is no God but Me. I will equip you for battle, though you have not known Me, I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me, there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, I am the LORD; there is no other God.

Third He sets leaders in place

Thirdly, He sets powers and authorities in place. We may not like who He chooses but we trust them in His hands.  He does have a plan and though it seems like chaos, by faith we know it is not chaos to Him

Daniel 4:17

For this has been decreed by the messengers;
 it is commanded by the holy ones,
so that everyone may know
 that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world
He gives them to anyone he chooses—
 even to the lowliest of people.”

Fourth Be thankful for all things.

Fourthly, Can we be thankful for what seems to be difficult choices?  We, also, can be thankful in the midst of any storm that may come. We may not understand but we live by faith not by sight. Right?

God is still in control whoever is the ruler of the time.

Next, We are told to pray for our leaders and government rulers. If we truly believe God rules in the hearts of men, we can trust God’s plan to be for the best.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 ‘in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Our thanksgiving, gratitude and praise will bring to us joy and peace beyond our human understanding.

Fifth, Show me your ways

As a result, we are given an opportunity to see God do great things, things we could never imagine

Psalms 25:4-5

Make me know Your ways, Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
For You, I wait all the day.

Father,

 We come to you asking that you give us strength, wisdom, and courage through your Holy Spirit for the coming days. We are thankful to have you as our Heavenly Father. You are the sustainer and giver of life.  We ask that you lead us to bring Jesus and your peace to this hurting world around us.

Each day gives us our daily bread.

You are the living bread who gives life.

Show us how to reach others with this message.  You have created this time and these appointed places and for such a time as this, we were created.

We pray for those who were placed in high offices in our country.  Father, this country was established as a Christian nation. Often we take our freedom for granted.  Awaken our nation and her leaders to know you and bring revival to our land.  Your prophet Amos reminds us there will come a time when there will be judgment, a famine in the land, not of bread or water but of hearing the Word of God. (Amos 8:11)

Lord, we pray for a revival so that the people who live in darkness can see a great light, the light of your Son Jesus.

We need peace and not the divisive spirit we are seeing. It is our fault that evil has been unleashed on our nation is our fault.  As a country, we have neglected you.  We have turned our lives over to greed and idolatry.  We ask you to forgive us and heal our land.  Turn the hearts of the fathers to the children.  Help us take back our homes and our youth.  We have forsaken your ways.  Please forgive and show us your path for us.

We thank you for your constant watch over us.  To call you our Father is a wonderful blessing for which we are grateful.  We bless your name and stand beneath your banner of love.

You are our only source of truth and wisdom.  We ask that you give us wisdom liberally in the days to come. Teach how to pray for our leaders and one another. Bring us together as your body, one in spirit and in truth.

We praise you in all things. We fervently ask this in your most holy name, Jesus.

Amen
