Passing on the Truths

Passing on the Truths

“You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.” 2 Timothy 2:2 (NLT)

This week I have struggled with what to share. My heart has been heavy for an old friend. She received the call each one of us as parents fear. Her son had been in a horrible boating accident. As I think of this mom, Lisa, I remember how heavy my heart was almost four years ago. How as a mom, I wanted to scream, hit someone, and would have done anything to take the pain away from my son. I wanted a “re-do.” I wanted to rewind, and make a different choice to avoid our current reality. Life doesn’t work that way.

As I went to visit with Lisa in the hospital, I became overwhelmed when I looked into her eyes. I saw myself. I sat with her while her son was in surgery, and thought about what I could say to her that would help during this extremely difficult time. So I dug back and pulled out this.

  1. Take it one day at a time. It is a roller coaster ride.
  2. “He can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.” Ephesians 3:20.
  3. Anything is possible with God.
  4. Someone has to be the small percentage…..
  5. Write in a devotional journal each day. Here’s one.
  6. Have faith and trust God with the process of healing.
  7. While your waiting, keep running the race.
  8. While your waiting, take steps in obedience.
  9. While your waiting, worship!
  10. Faithfully wait.

So this is the truth I am passing on and sharing with Lisa and anyone else who is having a difficult time in their life. If you have been through the toughest of times, I encourage you to be a guide to someone. Pass on your truth!
