A Psalm and a Prayer

Solar Eclipse. The moon moving in front of the sun. Illustration

Matthew 24:3 “Now as He (Jesus) sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, “I am the Christ, and will deceive many.  And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.  See that you are trouble, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.  For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various place.  And these are the beginning of sorrows.

Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.  But as the days of Noah were so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Luke 21:11 And there will be great earthquake in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

This week we have seen great sights in the heavens.  People all over US were gazing up to see the wonders of our great universe.  Such sights were not random.  I am so glad there is a creator, God Almighty, the one and only true God.  A God we cannot in our finite minds understand.  He is three persons but one essence.  Three in one, triune God created the heavens and the earth.

As I considered the solar eclipse and all the hoop-la for a 2 minute show, I wondered how many of us are watching, keeping our eyes on the sky for the coming of our Savior?  He has told us to watch and be ready.  Are we taking care of what He has ask us to do? Are we working to tell the lost of His coming and how to escape the eternal separation from God, family and friends?

One day the sky will open!  We will be gathered together those who are dead in the Lord and those who are alive and remain to be caught up in the air.

I pray we will watch and pray for His coming.  Pray for the lost who are being deceived.  Pray for those who have lost their way and are in danger of losing the rewards they have gathered.

Waiting for His return with angst and anticipation
