Wisdom is wealth
Some of Solomon’s Proverbs (Proverbs 25) were copied by Hezekiah, Judah’s thirteenth king. This king is known for his righteousness and his story is found in II Kings and II Chronicles. II Kings 18:5-6 records: “He (Hezekiah) trusted the LORD God of Israel, so that after him was NONE (emphasis mine) like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any who were before him (this includes David and Solomon).” Now that is a testimony! Verse 6 goes on to say, “For he held fast to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments which the LORD had commanded Moses.” Hezekiah’s life represents the opposite of Proverbs 25:28, Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls. By living a righteous life and ruling his own spirit, his life was not in ruins.
Glory of Kings
The very first proverb copied by this righteous king is, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings to search out the matter.” Do you realize, as we dig through scripture to understand its meaning we are experiencing the “glory of kings.” Deuteronomy 29:29 Moses writes, “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever that we may do all the words of (His) law.” God our Father conceals some things but encourages us to seek out that which He has concealed. In time, at the proper time, He will reveal all that has been concealed. Even today, He is revealing things that have been concealed for millenia. Now, the time is right and the puzzle pieces are falling into place. He says we will be without excuse. (Romans 1:20)
Searching for the Concealed
In the movie One Night With the King, Esther’s father teaches his young daughter the proverb of Solomon recorded by Israel’s most godly king, while Esther’s family is in exile in Babylon. https://kapwi.ng/w/73vKokyk
This is how God’s law was taught. Reciting scripture in teachable moments.
One of my favorite recordings of God revealing what is concealed is when Elisha sees the armies of heaven outnumbering the armies of the enemy on the hillside. (II Kings 6:8-23) And Amos writes, “Surely the LORD God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. (Amos 3:7)
True Treasure: Revelation
Much of this Proverb focuses on finding true wealth. We are told to remove the worthless of our lives, and find the best of all God has to offer for us to enjoy. Have humility, before both man (pauper or prince) and God and then God opens wide the doors of hospitality and acceptance. Being wise is to listen, search out the wisdom of others, and follow the laws of God. This is true treasure.
Is anything more valuable?
Is anything more valuable than the revelation of God? I think not! I know when He shows me something I have never seen or understood before, I feel like I have found buried treasure placed just for me to find. But, then comes the compulsion to share the treasure. Each day as we open the Scriptures we are given golden nuggets. Clues concealed by God just for you and me. It was for His glory He concealed these truth treasures. It is for your glory, the glory of royalty, that you should search it out. If you are His child, you are a member of the royal family: A family of prophets, priests, and kings. You were born for this! (Esther 4:14) You were born to find your purpose, (Psalm 57:2) to experience His glory, (Isaiah 60:19-21; Colossians 1:27) and be His bride! (Revelation 19:7-9)
