Fear Not the Winds of Change (#43)

Diaspora-The Scattering

One of my favorite pictures of my oldest granddaughter is of her blowing a dandelion with all her might, as a little tike with her “Toy” kneeling down and the picture captures the intensity of their conversation about this phenomenon.  Brings tears to my eyes just recalling the tender moment between a little girl and her granddaddy.

Isaiah 43: 5-7   FEAR NOT:  for I AM with thee: I WILL bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I WILL say to the north, “Give up;” and to the south, “Keep not back;  bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by my name:  for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him, yes I have made him.”  (KJV, emphasis mine)

Diaspora-the scattering of God’s people into captivity and exile.  Like a dandelion in the wind, the whole is scattered in four directions.  Each mini parachute at the mercy of the wind.  The once whole sphere of seeds will never again be complete and intact.  But God!

Look at the PROMISE we find here.  Find your HOPE here!  This verse offers what only God can offer you, hope to RESTORE what has been shattered and scattered in your life.  I need this today!

This is a prophecy to the children of Israel who have been taken into captivity and are exiled from their homeland.  Prophecy as we have mentioned before has layers of meaning and often multiple fulfillments.  God promises to call back His people (His sons and daughters) from the four corners of the world.  Your heritage matters not!  Faith is critical.  You must be a son or daughter.  To be a son or daughter you can be born into the family or adopted.  Either way you get the Father’s name!

During the first diaspora the Jewish nation was led into Babylon and did not return for seventy years.  The second diaspora occurred after the death of Christ and in May 1947 the Jewish nation was reborn and even today Jews from the four corners of the world are finding their way home.  For those of us who claim the name of Jesus, we will soon be called from the four corners of the world in the rapture of the church.

God uses winds of change (diaspora) to spread His love abroad far and wide, but He wants us to come home.  He will call us soon and unlike a dandelion whose seeds are scattered never to return, when he calls His children (seed) He will put us together and we will be as a beautiful bride ready to walk down the aisle.

The next time you see a dandelion, pick it, blow hard, watch the diaspora and then thank the Lord for His providential care no matter where He sends us or for how long.  If your loved ones are scattered across the globe like mine are, thank Him for one day we will be reunited with Him FOREVER!  O happy day!
